Electrical Audio Mid-Side Matrix

Electrical Audio is proud to offer a powerful tool for decoding Mid-Side audio.

We do a lot of recording using M-S mic setups. It is a classic method for recording drums, piano, choir, acoustic guitar, string sections, and room ambience. Typically you would need to occupy three console channels to decode M-S audio, one for the Mid signal (panned center), and two precisely matched Side channels (one panned left, the other panned right with the polarity reversed). Because of the need to keep the Side channels at exactly the same level, it’s not easy to adjust that level to taste. Our Mid Side Matrix eliminates the need to tie up any console channels by providing a clean, accurate, adjustable matrix. The Side control allows you to adjust the two Side signals together. It maintains the perfect match and acts as a stereo “width” control. There are left and right output trims to balance the outputs. They can also be used to reduce levels to interface with -10dbV standard recorders easier.

We designed our Mid Side Matrix to be as transparent and easy to use as possible. This box is meant to do one thing, and it does it well.
